Improving cycling safety through research: what have we learned and what should we do?
The safety of cycling deserves more attention than ever, now that a great number of cities are promoting cycling as an economic, green, healthy, and efficient way of transport. Unfortunately, the overall trend shows a continuously rising number of fatalities and serious injuries. This webinar presents a bird-eye view on recent findings and issues in bicycle safety, discussing the safety- by- design approach for developing prevention strategies and the potential role of automation.
About the speaker
Professor Divera Twisk is a human factors psychologist, with a PhD in adolescent risk-taking, and over 30 years of experience in road safety research, teaching, and policy development. Internationally, she has made significant contributions to topics such as bicycle safety, young novice drivers, Safe System approaches, and capacity building in low and middle-income countries.
