Don't wait for accidents to happen

NTSA joins ICTCT as a sub-committee

What is NTSA?

The Nordic Traffic Safety Academy (NTSA) was established in 2011 by a group of academics from several Nordic universities and research centers. The purpose of NTSA was declared as

‘…to promote scientific discussion within the road traffic safety society on a multidisciplinary base and to enhance the scientific aspect and status of road traffic safety as an academic discipline

The main activity of NTSA has been organisation of annual seminars on theories and research methods in road traffic safety science, held in one of the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland).

Why joining ICTCT?

There has always been a significant overlap in aims, subjects of interest and the  memberships between the two organisations. By joining the forces, we expect to streamline the communication (e.g. by avoiding cross-posting), expand the network and expose both organisations to a wider audience of traffic safety researchers.

What will change?

In practical terms, not much.

NTSA will continue to organise its annual seminars (usually held in May). Other networking activities will continue, too. As an ICTCT member or ‘friend’, you will receive updates on that.

NTSA members will automatically become ‘friends’ of ICTCT. Being a ‘friend’, you will receive information from ICTCT communication channels, but do not have commitments (e.g. membership fees) and rights (e.g. voting important decisions) of a regular member. The decision on whether to apply for the official ICTCT membership is up to each person individually to take.

We sincerely hope that this new alignment will benefit both organisations and further promote constructive discussions on the traffic safety science.
